Director’s Statement
For this film, I just wanted to have fun.
Being my directorial debut, I used GET OFF THE GRASS as a means to explore my style as a writer/director. Inspired by the comical camera direction of Edgar Wright, my aim was to create something playfully subversive and ultimately fun to watch.
I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a horror movie where the protagonist defies the usual expectations in how they confront the monster. As the saying goes, 'Never let them know your next move.' This concept led me to explore how such a shift could not only alter the tone but also blur the boundaries of the genre itself. The result is a short film that thematically delves into the act of upending the status quo, as well as the vulnerabilities and insecurities that this unpredictability can evoke in others.
